    Worth doing once

Our guide Jack was full of knowledge and genuine passion for the history of Māori in Sydney. He took us on a journey packed with eye-opening and "ahh" moments. This tour shows that Māori were adventurers, entrepreneurs, and incredibly persistent when they needed to be. Hearing these stories — documented stories from so long ago about how Māori first came to Sydney — really opened my eyes. The walk itself isn't too strenuous, just a few stairs and plenty of rest stops while you listen and take it all in. Awesome tour, Poihākena Tours!... Læs mere

    Pleasant and convenient

I've lived in Sydney for 11 years and the Poihakena Tour showed me just how little I knew. I learned about the Māori who helped build Sydney into the city it is today. Hearing their stories while exploring the streets and alleys they once walked really makes the experience stick with you. The two-hour guided walk flew by as we journeyed from the 1700s right through to today. If you're looking to uncover a whole new layer of The Rocks, I'd highly recommend this tour. Wear comfy walking shoes and grab a hat if it's a nice day! There are some stairs, but nothing too taxing.... Læs mere

    A solid choice

To me, a meaningful experience is one that stays with you — the kind that keeps popping into your head until you find yourself online digging for more. The Poihakena tour gave me exactly that and more. What an enlightening two hours of stories, warmth, and laughter! The walking tour had me seeing The Rocks and the role of Māori in early Sydney in a completely new light. I'd urge anyone visiting Sydney to take this tour.... Læs mere
