Spend the longest, most flexible day at Whitehaven Beach
ZigZag Whitsundays runs daily tours from Airlie Beach to the silica sands of South Whitehaven Beach aboard Super Flyer, our 80-passenger air-conditioned catamaran. The day is built around one simple idea: you set the pace. With unlimited on-demand water-taxi transfers running between the boat and the beach all day, you can stretch out on the sand for hours, head back to Super Flyer for the air-con and the bar, then return for another swim whenever you like.
Both ticket options depart on the same boat at the same time. Both include a guided walk to the South Whitehaven Lookout, a freshly prepared buffet lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, drinking water, and a stinger suit for safe swimming year-round.
Super Flyer
Super Flyer is a high-speed catamaran powered by twin Yanmar 911hp engines, cruising at a fast and smooth 24 knots. Inside you'll find an air-conditioned cabin with comfortable seating and clear views of the islands as you cruise. Outside, two sun deck areas (including an adults-only top deck) give you room to spread out with sun lounges and relaxed seating. The licensed onboard bar is open all day, alongside a coffee machine, two bathrooms, three changing rooms, and Wi-Fi.
South Whitehaven Beach and the South Lookout
Whitehaven Beach runs for seven kilometres along Whitsunday Island, and we land at the southern end where the silica is at its whitest and the crowds are thinnest. From the beach, a well-maintained 900-metre walking track leads up to the South Whitehaven Lookout (opened in 2019), where you get panoramic views down the full length of Whitehaven Beach and across the Whitsunday Islands back towards the mainland. Picnic tables, shaded areas, and composting toilets are available at the beach.
The snorkel (Whitehaven Beach + Snorkel ticket)
If you choose the + Snorkel ticket, you'll join a 60-minute guided snorkel at a coral reef location, with sanitised mask, snorkel and fins included. Two sessions run during the day (around 11am and 1.30pm), each capped at 30 guests so you're never in a crowd. The transfer to the snorkel site is about 15 minutes each way on a smaller fast boat. While snorkel guests are out exploring the reef, All Day ticket holders continue to enjoy the beach.
A family-owned tour with a marine-science backbone
ZigZag Whitsundays was founded in 2017 by Nicole Rosser, a marine biologist with a long career in reef conservation, and Ben Marsh, a diesel engineer. The business is still family-owned and operated. The crew brings the same care to the boat that the founders bring to the reef: ZigZag is an active participant in Queensland's Eye on the Reef program and a Boats4Coral partner. Over 4,400 guests have reviewed the experience at an average of 4.9 stars, and the business holds the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award for 2024 and Best of Queensland Experience two years running.
