Sydney parrots are truly amazing. While our iconic kangaroos, koalas, and wombats are well-known, there's more to Australia than just our amazing mammals. Did you know that one-sixth of the world's parrots call Australia home? 56 species of the 300 or so species of parrot are found in Australia, and only 5 of these are found elsewhere in the world. More than a dozen of these species are found in Sydney, and many are found throughout Sydney suburbs.

On this tour, we will search for Sydney parrots in at least 3 different locations around Sydney. During the day, we may see many of our colourful parrots, including king parrots, cockatoos, lorikeets, corellas, rosellas, and galahs. On some days, we may only find a few of these species, on others, we will find ten or so. Often, we may also see other birds, including

We will take a boat to a unique island where there are no cars and people use wheelbarrows to cart their shopping from the ferry wharf to their homes and school children ride their bikes to the wharf to catch a ferry to school.

We will stop for lunch at Olympic Park, where the 2000 Olympics were held. Here, we will meet some of the local ibis (also known as bin chickens because they raid garbage bins). We will also visit a wetlands area where we may see some Sydney water birds.
