À propos

  • Explore the Cape Bruny Lighthouse in South Bruny National Park on this 30 minute tour, and experience the only lighthouse open for tours in Tasmania. This lighthouse was built by convicts in 1836 and still stands as one of Australia's oldest continuous working lighthouses. It stands on the edge of the South Bruny National Park and looks out the wild Southern Ocean. You will have the opportunity to hear stories of shipwrecks, convicts and lighthouse keeping while standing on the edge Tasmania. Climb the original spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse, out onto the viewing platform for some of the most memorable views you may ever witness.
  • Company owner, Craig Parsey, grew up at Cape Bruny Lighthouse Station, bringing authenticity and connection to every tour.

Ce que tu feras

Make your own way to the Cape Bruny Lighthouse for your tour. After an introduction from your guide, climb the wrought iron spiral staircase to the tower balcony. The lighthouse dates back to 1836 and stands 374 feet (114 meters) high. It is the only lighthouse that is open to the public in southern Tasmania. From there, take in sweeping views of the Tasman Sea, South East Cape, Whale Head and small islands that dot the coast. Get great photo ops in every direction, and keep an eye out for albatross, gannets and many other seabirds. You might see short-tailed shearwaters and wedge-tailed eagles swooping close to the tower, and further out on the ocean you can catch sight of migrating whales (depending on the season). View the superbly engineered light prisms up close, and hear about the history of the convict-built lighthouse, and the lighthouse keepers that worked in this remote locale. Hear firsthand stories from your guide about living at a lighthouse and some of the last light keepers in Australia.
