Thingvellir National Park is known for both historical and geological matters. On the one hand, this is the place where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates split. On the other, it is a symbolically important place in the history of the formation of the Icelandic nation, the place of national assembly since the time of the first settlers of the Viking Age.

Haukadalur
Arrêt: 60 minutes
During this stop, we will take a walk through the small geothermal valley of Haukadalur, famous for its Geysir and Strokkur hot springs. Although Geysir is inactive today, Strokkur, the largest active geyser in the country, erupts every 5-10 minutes at an altitude of 20-35 meters (60-100 feet).

Gullfoss
Arrêt: 60 minutes
Gullfoss is one of the most famous and beloved waterfalls in Iceland; it consists of two steps. The first cascade is 11 meters (33 feet), and the second drop is 21 meters (65 feet). The walls of the canyon into which the waterfall flows reach heights of up to 70 meters (230 feet). Geologists believe that the canyon was formed by glacial outbursts at the end of the last ice age.
