Steenberg, known as Swaaneweide in 1682, is almost certainly the oldest farm in the Constantia valley, even older than Groot Constantia. In the early days table grapes were its main export. The history of this farm is virtually inseparable from that of a formidable woman, Trijin Ras. The homestead we see today was built in 1740. Since 1988 Steenberg has been known for its upmarket golf estate, restaurants and wines.

It is a fully operational wine farm. Constantia products were praised by, among others, Napoleon, Bismarck and Louis Philippe of France.
