The 2nd Tunnel was discovered on March 19, 1975, in an area 13km north of Cheorwon within the DMZ.
The tunnel has a width of 2.1m, a height of 2m, and a length of 3.5km. It is located between 50 and 160m (160 and 520ft) below ground.
The tunnel is capable of accommodating approximately 30,000 armed troops, who could infiltrate through the tunnel in an hour with vehicles, artillery pieces, and even tanks.
The tunnel is currently available for exploration, with a length of 500m accessible to the public.
The area surrounding the tunnel is a UNESCO Global Geopark, featuring unique geological formations, including columnar jointing.
The geopark has a length of 3.6km and a width of 1.5m, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Cheolwon Hantangang Water Road
The Hantangang Water Road (Waterway) is a course where you can enjoy trekking. It is built by setting a floating bridge afloat in the 500-meter section of Songdaeso on Cheorwon’s Hantangang River. You will visit water road on November to March (Until the waterway is open)

The 2nd Tunnel

The 2nd Tunnel, which was made by North Koreans to invade South Korea, was discovered on March 24, 1975. This tunnel is 3.5 kilometers long and sits 50~160 meters below the surface. It stretches out 1.1 kilometers and 2.4 kilometers in the south and north directions respectively. Only 500 meters is open for tourism among the whole length. Inside of the tunnel, there is a plaza to gather a large military force. The tunnel is divided into 3 exits. The use of this tunnel would allow for thirty thousand armed forces as well as tanks to pass through per hour. For now, the tunnel is operated as part of Cheorwon Security Tourism Course and many tourists visit this area every year.

Cheorwon Peace Observatory

Peace observatory with three stories and a basement, opened in November 2007. The first floor is an exhibition hall and the second floor is an observatory, allowing tourists to observe the ecosystem, fortress of Gung-Ye Castle town, Pyeonggang tableland, and Seonjeon town of North Korea in the DMZ. There's also a miniature model produced by state-of-the-art technology and an ultra-precision telescope system, so that tourists can witness and listen to the reality of national division. Woljeongri Station
Arrêt: 30 minutes
Woljeong-ri Station (Iron Triangle Battlefield) is the last stop before reaching the DMZ. With the sign "The iron horse wants to run again," there stand remains of a train that was used to make frequent trips to North Korea. Located at the spot where the fiercest battle was held during the Korean War, this train marks the partition line of the Korean peninsula. These days Woljeong-ri Station is under the control of the Cheorwon-gun Office and hundreds of thousands of people visit this unique tourist area every year.Read moreMore about Woljeongri Station
