Walk the streets where history unfolded, savor dishes with deep-rooted significance, and engage in conversations that challenge, inform, and inspire. The Company’s Garden, established in 1652 by the Dutch East India Company, was the first colonial settlement in Cape Town. Enslaved people from Africa and Asia cultivated crops to supply passing ships, reinforcing the colony’s reliance on forced labour. The garden symbolises both colonial expansion and the exploitation of enslaved communities.
