何をしますか

Twenty-four acres above the Berwickshire coast, and none of it was here ten years ago. This was a landfill site. Ninety local volunteers and two and a half thousand hours later, it is wildlife ponds, a thousand native trees, a sensory garden and a herd of horses, running entirely on solar.

The horses came from somewhere too. Ours are rescues, rehabilitated, and none of them are made to work in a way that does not suit them. That shapes the whole three hours. You will not be handed a horse and pointed at a gate. You will meet the herd first, learn a little about how they read you, and take your time getting your horse ready before you ride out over the land with the North Sea in front of you.

Complete beginners are genuinely welcome. So are nervous riders, returning riders, and experienced horse people who want something slower than a trekking centre. Danielle, who founded the place in 2017 and is BHS Stage 4 qualified, will usually be the one meeting you at the gate.

We are ten minutes from Berwick-upon-Tweed on the east coast main line, and we can arrange pick up and drop off from the station if you tell us your train.

Eat Sleep Ride is a registered Scottish charity. What you pay here funds free places for people across the Borders, East Lothian, Edinburgh and Northumberland who could not otherwise get to a place like this. That is the whole reason the gate is open.

集合場所とピックアップ

開始: Eat Sleep Ride, Quarry Farm, Lamberton, Berwickshire, TD15 1XB

We are directly off the A1 at Lamberton, ten minutes from Berwick-upon-Tweed, thirty minutes from Dunbar and around an hour from Edinburgh or Newcastle. Sat nav TD15 1XB, or what3words ///stubble.hush.nightfall. Please note there is no signage. Access is down a rural track — take it slowly, keep coming down the hill, and you will reach the yard. You have not gone wrong. Plenty of free parking on site, including accessible spaces. Wheelchair access throughout. Please tell us in advance if you are coming in a large vehicle or minibus. Sensible footwear essential — this is a working farm site with uneven ground. Arrive fifteen minutes before your start time so we can get you booted and introduced to the herd without rushing.

何が含まれていますか?

  • You arrive down the track and park in the yard. The first thing you will notice is the quiet, and then the sea — the site sits high above the Berwickshire coast with the North Sea laid out in front of you. Someone will meet you, get the kettle on, and walk you round.
  • You start with the horses on the ground, not in the saddle. You will meet the herd, hear how each one came to us, and learn a little about how they read body language and what they are telling you in return. Then you will be matched with your horse, and you will groom and tack up yourself with help from our team — the whole process, not just the ride.
  • From there you ride out across the land. Twenty-four acres of restored ground that was landfill a decade ago and is now wildlife ponds, a thousand native trees, hedgerows and open grazing, with sea views most of the way round. The pace suits you and it suits the horse. Complete beginners are led and supported throughout; confident riders can do more.
  • Afterwards you untack, and there is time to be shown round properly if you want it — the sensory garden, the polytunnel and community garden, the solar array that runs the whole place, the yurt with the wood stove, and the hens. Tea, coffee and a seat with a view.
  • You will leave knowing where your money went. Eat Sleep Ride is a registered Scottish charity, and what visitors pay funds free places for people across the Borders, East Lothian, Edinburgh and Northumberland who could not otherwise get here.
