The Old Town region of Hoi An is comprised of hundreds of historic houses, congregation halls, pagodas, and other historic structures that offer a breathtaking vista for explorers. These buildings and streets reflect the indigenous and foreign influences that underpin Hoi An, defining it as a unique heritage centre and multi-cultural melting pot. Approximately 40km beyond the city limits, My Son sanctuary is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built between the 4th and the 14th century AD by the kings of Champa. Although partially ruined during bombing raids in the Vietnam War, the site remains a beautiful and captivating place, featuring many ornate stone sculptures, temples and towers, surrounded by exotic tropical jungle.

Phuoc Kien Assembly Hall, located at 46 Tran Phu Street, was founded in 1690 and served the largest Chinese ethnic group in Hoi An (the Fujian). It contains the Jinshang golden mountain temple and is dedicated to Thien Hau, the goddess of the sea and protector of the sailors. The pagoda is also a place of gathering for the natives of Phuoc Kien.
