Art enthusiasts will love this small-group tour, which takes you to see some of the greatest Italian Renaissance and Baroque artworks in just a couple of hours. You'll get to see some of the sculptural and public architectural works of three masters: Bernini, Borromini, and Michelangelo. Your guide will share interesting facts about the artists' lives and works, and you'll have the opportunity to head up to Piazza del Campidoglio, one of Rome's seven hills, for great views. To refresh, you'll get to taste some delicious granita.

Originally built in the fifth century to preserve the chains of Saint Peter, the basilica stands out not only for its remarkable artistry and Michelangelo's impressive sculpture but also for its distinctive character that sets it apart from other Roman churches, making it a significant site for art and history enthusiasts.

Piazza del Campidoglio
Stop: 25 minutes
On our Italian art tour, after visiting the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli to admire Michelangelo's Moses, we will proceed to Campidoglio, or Monte Capitolino, one of Rome's seven hills, designed by Michelangelo in the 16th century at the request of Pope Paul III to impress Emperor Charles V. Following this, we will visit the stunning Piazza Navona, renowned for its three magnificent fountains, including Bernini's famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, and the Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone, before concluding our tour at Piazza di Spagna, where we will focus on the Barcaccia fountain amid the iconic Spanish Steps.

Piazza Navona, renowned as one of Rome's most stunning squares, features three captivating fountains, with the centerpiece being The Fountain of the Four Rivers, crafted by Bernini under Pope Innocent X's commission. This magnificent fountain symbolizes the four major rivers of the world: the Nile, the Ganges, the Danube, and the Rio de la Plata, showcasing Bernini's masterful blend of art and architecture.

In Piazza Navona, along with the iconic Fountain of the Four Rivers designed by Bernini, you'll also encounter the stunning Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone, whose facade was masterfully designed by Borromini, creating a striking architectural dialogue between these two renowned artists.

That is not accurate, the church that is located exactly in front of Bernini's fountain, is actually Sant'Agnese in Agone's facade was actually designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, not Borromini, and was designed in Baroque style, however the interior's architecture, is the work of both Francesco Borromini and Bernini.
