Mutton Bird Lookout

Stopp: 20 minutes

This part of coastline use to be deep under water. The stone formed about 200 million years ago from ocean debris, such as plant and fish matter that floated to the bottom of the really deep ocean. Also keep a look out for the tiny and adorable Fairy Penguins as there are thousands of them around the area too!

The Twelve Apostles

The Twelve Apostles are perhaps the most famous attraction along the Great Ocean Road. These towering limestone stacks rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean, creating a breathtaking landscape. The best time to visit is either early morning or late afternoon for optimal lighting and fewer crowds.

Loch Ard Gorge

This stunning natural formation is named after the shipwreck of the Loch Ard in 1878. The gorge is famous for its dramatic cliffs, clear waters, and beautiful sandy beach. You can also visit the nearby shipwreck memorial.

Port Campbell National Park

The Great Ocean Road itself is the world’s largest war memorial, as it was built entirely by soldiers who returned from World War I. Many of the soldiers who built the road had little to no experience with road construction, yet they persevered and created one of the most scenic drives in the world. The Memorial Arch is a small but powerful reminder of their contribution.

Nice experience overall

Very enjoyable tour
Our driver was experienced and the day tour was amazing, planned perfectly around our schedule so we were back right on time. He even took us to some extra secret stops since a few of the usual ones were closed. We got lucky and spotted wild koalas and kangaroos — including a huge one! 🦘 ... Läs mer
