Despite its grim history, this region is rich in culture and natural beauty. The border area with Myanmar is known for its mountainous charm and is unmatched elsewhere in the country.
Take a long-tailed boat on the River Kwai to Home Phutoey. You can also experience luxurious nights in beautiful floating houses on the River Kwai.
Visit a local Mon tribal village and take a trek through the jungle. You can also take a historic train ride along the original track of the "Death Railway". This is an important and moving experience that allows you to understand the history and significance of the Thailand-Burma railway.
