The Lares Trek is a 4-day hike that follows a remote path through Andean villages to the Inca citadel, avoiding the crowds of the Inca Trail. Along the way, you'll pass through small villages with stone houses and take in the breathtaking scenery as you journey through Wacahuasi, Wacawasi, Patacancha, and other charming towns before arriving in Aguas Calientes to marvel at the incredible Machu Picchu.

Lares Trek

You'll depart Cusco early in the morning and travel to the township of Calca (2,900 meters) in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Then you will cross the Sacred Valley and after 2 hours driving you'll get to Lares town, where you will visit the medicinal hot spring and relax until lunch. After this you will begin the trek (approximately 4 hrs. with 30 minutes) with direction to Huacawasi (first campsite) and spend the night.
