Begin the journey across Victoria’s Western Plains, stopping near historic Ballarat for morning tea before continuing toward the Grampians. As the mountain ranges rise ahead, enjoy a gentle walk through eucalyptus bushland to the peaceful Silverband Falls.
Continue into Halls Gap, a small township surrounded by towering sandstone peaks. Enjoy free time to purchase lunch and keep watch for the wild kangaroos and native birds commonly seen around town.
In the afternoon, experience some of the Grampians’ most impressive landscapes on foot. Walk among the dramatic rock walls of the Grand Canyon before travelling higher into the ranges for sweeping views from Reeds Lookout. From here, follow a bushland trail to The Balconies, one of the region’s most distinctive sandstone formations.
Enjoy some time at Boroka Lookout, where panoramic views stretch across Halls Gap, Lake Bellfield and the surrounding ranges and plains.

Ballarat & Morning Tea

- Learn about Ballarat’s fascinating gold-rush history and the Eureka Rebellion before continuing west toward the Grampians.
Silverband Falls
- Enter Grampians National Park and enjoy a gentle walk through eucalyptus bushland to Silverband Falls.

Halls Gap & Lunch
- Travel into Halls Gap, the small mountain township at the heart of the Grampians.

Grand Canyon
- After lunch, travel to the Wonderland area and set out on a short walk into the Grand Canyon.
- Walk between dramatic sandstone walls marked by layers and fault lines and experience the rugged geology of the Grampians up close.
- Parts of this walk include uneven and rocky terrain, so suitable footwear is important.
Reeds Lookout & the Balconies
- Continue higher into the ranges to Reeds Lookout.
- Step out onto the viewing area and take in sweeping views across Victoria Valley, surrounding mountain ranges and vast stretches of native forest.
- From Reeds Lookout, follow a well-formed walking track through native bushland toward The Balconies.
- This spectacular sandstone formation sits high above Victoria Valley and is one of the Grampians’ most distinctive viewpoints, with expansive views across the rugged mountain landscape.
Boroka Lookout
- Continue to Boroka Lookout for one of the most impressive panoramas of the day.
- A short walk leads to viewing platforms overlooking Halls Gap, Lake Bellfield, the surrounding mountain ranges and the plains beyond.
Halls Gap Wildlife Spotting
- Return toward Halls Gap for another opportunity to see the wild kangaroos that live around the township. Your friendly guide will help you to snap the perfect photo!
- Enjoy some final moments surrounded by the Grampians landscape before beginning the journey back toward Melbourne.
