The Sacred Valley Tour of the Incas takes you through the mountains of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, an area of great cultural significance in Inca times. On this tour, you'll drive through the mountains, passing by salt pools, which were used as evaporation chambers by the Incas. These pools spill out of the mountain and down the mountainside at an altitude of 12,000 feet above sea level. Today, these pools are owned by local farmers and have become the main economic activity for the locals. The Valley has a milder climate than Cusco, and you'll see a succession of picturesque villages, agricultural terraces, and several archaeological sites.
