The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the world's largest mosques and a magnificent architectural work of art. It combines different Islamic architectural styles, featuring 82 domes, over 1,000 columns, and 24-carat-gold gilded chandeliers. The main prayer hall is dominated by one of the world's largest chandeliers.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the eighth largest in the world and can accommodate 40,000 pilgrims at one time. The mosque is replete with architectural marvels, spectacular chandeliers, floral mosaics, and gold and silver artefacts. A magnificent and enormous carpet adorns the mosque floor. The carpet measures a whopping 35 tons and measures 60,570 square feet. It is an Iranian carpet and it took almost two years to weave that.
The mosque is also a testament to the Islamic tradition and culture, as well as the late president in whose memory the mosque has been built.
