The French built Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography in 1923 in Nha Trang, where has the most diverse marine life in Vietnam. The Museum of Oceanography is an inseparable part of the Institute of Oceanography, along with its history of nearly a century of foundation and development.
Housed in a grand French-colonial building in southern Nha Trang, this dated museum has 60,000 or so jars of pickled marine specimens, stuffed birds and sea mammals, and displays of local boats and fishing artefacts.
