Betty's Bay

Hamilton Russell Vineyards

Driving through one of South Africa’s top wine regions without stopping would be a real missed chance. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, nestled between the coast and higher altitudes, provides an ideal climate for cool-climate grape varieties. You will be able to have lunch here before the tour continues South east towards Elim.

Elim

As we leave Cape Agulhas, we’ll pass through the quaint village of Elim, a charming spot founded in 1824 by German settlers. Elim was the third Moravian mission station established near Cape Town and has managed to retain its old-world charm. The village is characterized by its whitewashed cottages with thatched roofs, which line the quiet streets, creating a picturesque scene. The central church, surrounded by fig trees, is the heart of the village, and everything seems to lead back to it. Visitors will have time to wander through this peaceful village, perhaps stopping to admire the lovely rose garden that adds a burst of color to the town.
