- You will also have an opportunity to explore relevant Māori exhibitions and discover treasured taonga (cultural treasures), traditional waka (canoes), intricate carvings and examples of Māori artistry. Learn about ancestral voyaging, traditional craftsmanship and the enduring connections between Māori communities, the natural world and their cultural heritage.

- Conclude your cultural journey with a traditional Māori-style hāngī lunch.
- Learn about hāngī, a traditional method of cooking food in an earth oven using heated stones. This slow-cooking process produces tender meat and vegetables while reflecting longstanding Māori knowledge of food preparation and the sharing of kai (food).
- Enjoy a generous meal that may include slow-cooked meats, seasonal vegetables, kūmara (sweet potato), rewena bread and other local favourites. Menu items may vary depending on availability and the meal provider.
