The story of Aquila began in 1999 when its owner, Searl Derman, wanted to share his passion for the wild with Cape Town. He searched for the perfect piece of land to re-introduce the Big 5 to the Western Cape. He was fortunate enough to come across a nature reserve that would later become Aquila Private Game Reserve.
Situated in the historic town of Touws River, in a valley between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains in the Karoo, the 10,000 hectare conservancy has evolved from its early days of being residence to various antelope species only to becoming the home of the Big 5 – elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard - as well as a significant amount of other wild game, which roam freely on the reserve.

Your guide will meet your you at your accommodation at 6:30am in order to head to your safari game drive.

Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve

Located within a 2-hour drive of Cape Town, Aquila Private Game Reserve offers a safari experience with mountains and landscape views. The reserve boasts an outdoor swimming pool and an on-site spa.
Decorated in an African style with wooden furniture, each unit at Aquila features an outdoor shower and is equipped with a fan and a minibar that can be stocked on request. Some units offer a private patio/balcony offering views of the reserve.
Meals are included at Aquila, which features a triple-volume buffet restaurant with an upstairs viewing area boasting scenic views of the Karoo mountains. There is also a pool bar and cigar lounge available for drinks and snacks.
Home to the 'Big 5' wildlife species, guests can enjoy scheduled morning and afternoon safari game drives within an open 4 x 4 safari vehicle, which are included in the rate. Horse-back and quad-bike safaris can also be arranged.
The price only covers your transfer to and from Aquila as well as your guide for the day
