Bo-Kaap is a vibrant and culturally rich neighborhood located in Cape Town, South Africa. Known for its brightly colored houses and cobblestone streets, it is one of the city's most iconic and historic areas. Bo-Kaap dates back to the 1760s, when numerous rental houses were built and leased to slaves. These slaves were primarily brought from Malaysia, Indonesia, and various African countries by the Dutch East India Company. The neighborhood has a strong Muslim influence, as many of the early residents were Muslim slaves,The vibrant, brightly painted houses are one of Bo-Kaap's most distinctive features. The tradition of painting houses in bright colors is said to have started as an expression of freedom and joy after the end of apartheid.

Grand Parade

Grand Parade is the main public square in Cape Town. It was the site of the original fort built by Dutch colonialists in 1652. Today it is a gathering point for large events such as the historic speech by Nelson Mandela when he was released from prison in 1990. There is nothing new about globalisation except the name.

Company's Gardens

The garden was originally created in the 1650s by the region's first European settlers and provided fertile ground to grow fresh produce to replenish ships rounding the Cape. It is watered from the Molteno Dam, which uses water from the springs on the lower slopes of Table Mountain.
