When the King of Thonburi had the capital moved from Krung Si Ayutthaya to Krung Thonburi, he also brought the Emerald Buddha from Vientiane to enshrine in Wat Arun before later transferring it to Wat Phra Kaew (the Temple of the Emerald Buddha).
