The Thien Mu Pagoda, also known as the Pagoda of the Celestial Lady, is one of the most iconic and oldest religious sites in Hue, Vietnam. Located on the northern bank of the Perfume River, the pagoda is renowned for its stunning architectural beauty and serene surroundings.
Built in 1601 by Lord Nguyễn Hoàng, the ruler of the southern region of Vietnam, the Thien Mu Pagoda has a rich history intertwined with Vietnamese Buddhism and the country's royal heritage. The pagoda complex is set amidst lush greenery, with a seven-tiered octagonal tower, called the Phước Duyên Tower, as its focal point. Each tier of the tower is dedicated to a different Buddha.
Apart from the tower, the pagoda grounds also house several other structures, including pavilions, halls, and courtyards, all adorned with intricate carvings, statues, and ornate decorations. One notable feature is the giant bell, cast in 1710, which produces a deep and resonant sound when struck.Read moreMore about Thien Mu Pagoda
