What you'll do

Travel the Great Ocean Road in a small group, avoiding the crowds. Start in Melbourne and drive straight to the famous Twelve Apostles. You can even take a thrilling helicopter flight over the apostles. Then, slowly make your way back to Melbourne, stopping at iconic sites like Teddy's Lookout, Gibsons Steps, Apollo Bay, and more. Keep an eye out for wildlife like kangaroos and koalas as you enjoy incredible views over the sea. Learn all about the road and its storied past as you travel along the Great Ocean Road.

  • Witness the rugged splendour of the famous 12 Apostles, magnificent rock stacks that rise up majestically from the Southern Ocean on Victoria's dramatic coastline.
  • Created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland beginning 10–20 million years ago, the stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs.
  • The caves eventually became arches and when they collapsed rock stacks up to 45 metres high were left isolated from the shore

Hear the story of the Loch Ard shipwreck and learn about the rich maritime history of the area at the nearby Port Campbell Visitor Information Centre.
