Visit New Zealand's only castle. Garden entry cost is included. Have lunch or light refreshments (at your own cost) in the Ballroom cafe and explore the very extensive gardens. (The 1-hour self-guided tour inside the castle is not included)

Learn about the endangered yellow-eyed penguins, visit the Penguin Rehabilitation Centre (when penguins are present), and experience a guided tour through the reserve, which is home to numerous native plants and animals. (Please note there is approximately 1.5 kilometres of walking on this tour up and down steps and uneven ground. This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or disabled people. A moderate degree of fitness is required)

Visit Taiaroa Head, home of the Royal Albatross. There is a chance you may see these magnificent birds in flight. Explore the visitor centre, where you can learn more about the colony — and you might spot an albatross soaring overhead if conditions are right. (This stop is dependent on time available)
