What you'll do

Our first stop is Stirling, one of Scotland’s most historic cities, sitting between the Highlands and Lowlands. Wander the old streets and enjoy the views, or add entry to Stirling Castle as an optional extra. Once a royal residence of Scottish kings and queens, including Mary, Queen of Scots, it features the Great Hall, royal apartments and Chapel Royal.

Continue west into Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and the lovely village of Luss, with its stone cottages and lochside paths. Walk along the shore, browse the shops or stop for lunch.

You can also take an optional 90-minute cruise for a different view of the loch’s mountains and islands, or visit Luss Distillery, home of Ben Lomond Gin. Entry to the visitor centre is free, with gin and whisky tastings available for an additional cost.

Before returning to Edinburgh, stop at The Kelpies, two 30-metre horse head sculptures by artist Andy Scott. The world’s largest equine sculptures, they honour the horses that powered Scotland’s industrial past and take their name from the mythical water horses of Scottish folklore. Take a closer look and snap a few photographs.

Host since 2006
Highland Experience Tours began with a simple belief: the best way to know Scotland is to step off the main road and into the landscapes that shaped it. Founded by people who grew up among the glens, lochs, and mountain passes, the company set out to share the Highlands as locals know them, beyond the usual postcard viewpoints. Every journey is built around genuine exploration, with time to wander ancient battlefields and castles and listen to tales of clans and castles. What sets Highland Experience Tours apart is our guides behind the wheel and the stories they tell. Whether you're tracing the road to Glencoe, travelling the western isles, or exploring ancient castles, we aim to leave you with more than photographs. We want you to leave with a real connection to the Highlands and the feeling that you've discovered something special.
